Eventually we come to the skate park. Behind rusty fences, the park is alive with sharks of all shapes and sizes. All of them are wearing Pike or FishHead sports gear. A gang of leopard sharks are riding yellow-finned skateboards.

“All right, Leon!” Lola calls to the nearest leopard shark. He looks around and jumps off his skateboard. Then he waves a fin to the others, and one by one the group coasts to a halt, looking at me suspiciously.

Lola looks back at me. “Harry, this is my dance crew—the Shark Beatz.” Lola turns back to the gang. “Don’t worry, boys, this is Harry. He’s cool.”

The Shark Beatz don’t seem so sure, though. Leon flicks his tail over and stares at me with narrow eyes. “He doesn’t look that cool to me.”

“I told you, he’s all right.” Lola turns to me. “This is Leon. He’s my brother, and he’s not as mean as he thinks he is.”
